CARMEN G. PERT

Carmen G. Pert 81, passed away peacefully Friday, April 1, 2016. Carmen was a lifelong resident of Santa Fe, born to Ramona and George Pert on November 8, 1934 during the global Junior Red Cross movement. Carmen graduated from Loretto High School in 1952. Carmen was first employed by Prudential Life Insurance forming many life time friends. Carmen then retired with the Bureau of Land Management. She spent a year and a half in Anchorage, Alaska in 1972 documenting land grants for the Eskimo’s during her tenure with the bureau.
Carmen was a devoted Catholic and parishioner of the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis. She leaves behind a large family of first and second cousins. She was a lovely woman with an incredible smile and kind words for everyone she met. She will be greatly missed. Carmen was a member of the National Humane Society, Union Protective, St. Vincent Hospital Auxiliary, St. Vincent de Paul Society, ASPCA, Vintage Car Club and always on a mission to help a sick family member or friend. Throughout her life Carmen was a true animal lover owning several dogs, fostered homeless rescue dogs and was volunteer dog walker which helped mold her into an avid daily walker. Carmen also had a passion for parakeets.
A Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. at her beloved Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis followed by the funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Rosario Cemetery following the Mass.
