Carole Marie (Faust) Halladay

Carole Marie (Faust) Halladay passed away suddenly on January 4, 2025, at UNM Hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She was 77 years old. Carole was born and raised in Pennsylvania, spending her early years in Coatesville, PA, where she graduated from Scott High School in 1965. During high school, she participated in the glee club and softball and was well-liked by many of her classmates.

After high school, Carole briefly studied at Drexel University in Philadelphia before marrying Brian Halladay in 1971. After the birth of their son, John, the family relocated to Ruidoso, New Mexico, in 1975, and later settled permanently in Los Alamos. Shortly after the birth of their second son, Joshua, Carole and Brian divorced. Carole remained in Los Alamos, working various jobs as a single mother before finding her calling at Melnick Insurance Agency. She worked there for over 30 years, becoming a well-known and respected figure not only in Los Alamos but also in nearby northern New Mexico communities.

Carole retired from Melnick Insurance Agency in 2022. She enjoyed cooking, reading (especially books by James Patterson), watching the latest movies, and talking to her friends and family on the phone. Carole loved visiting local farmers’ markets and craft fairs in Los Alamos. She was a devoted mother and a beloved member of her family. Carole’s love language was gifting, and she found great joy in giving presents to those she adored.

Carole, affectionately known as “Cookie” by her family, was the daughter of the late Agnes (Domblesky) Faust and the late Donald Faust. She was preceded in death by her sister, Cindy Hasty of Buckingham, Virginia. Carole is survived by her sons, John Halladay of Los Alamos, New Mexico, and Joshua Halladay of Newark, New Jersey. She is also survived by her siblings: Daniel Faust, Alice Lohr, Donna Frazier, and Diane Taylor, as well as aunts, uncles, and cousins who she cherished.

Interment will be held at the convenience of the family. For friends of Carole in Los Alamos, New Mexico, and surrounding areas, a virtual memorial may be arranged through her son, Joshua Halladay.
