Cayetana Chacon

Cayetana Chacon, 93, a resident of Coyote, NM, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Saturday, June 3, 2017. She was preceded in death by her husband, Diego A. Chacon Sr, son, Diego A. Chacon Jr, parents Benigno and Ana Maria Herrera, brothers, Benigno, Miguel, Juanito, Amadeo, Jose Lorenzo, Jose Eugenio, and sisters, Leonedes and Maria Patroncinia. She is survived by her son, Jose Chacon of San Diego, CA, daughters, Geneva (Sam) of Coyote, Antonia Chacon of Rio Rancho and Eileen Garcia (Dennis) of Bernalillo; grandsons, Eugene Allen (Heather), David Garcia (Lorina), Jay Garcia (Andrea) and Esteban Garcia; great-grandson, Oliver Garcia , Erminda Herrera and many other relatives and friends. Cayetana was born in Agua Sarca on June 6, 1923. She was a homemaker, devoted Catholic and loved to spend time with family and friends. She was a member of the Coyote Sagrada Familia and enjoyed going to the Coyote Senior Center. A Rosary will be recited Tuesday, June 6th at 5:00 and 7:00 pm, at San Juan Bautista Catholic Church in Coyote, NM. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, June 7th at 10:00 am at the San Juan Bautista Catholic Church in Coyote, NM. Burial will follow at the Coyote Catholic Cemetery. Serving the family as pallbearers are Eugene Allen, David Garcia, Jay Garcia, Esteban Garcia, Greg Herrera and Arturo Herrera; Honorary pallbearers will be Oliver Garcia and Bernie Gonzalez. The family of Cayetana Chacon has entrusted the care of their beloved mother to the Rivera Family Funeral Home, Espanola, NM.
