Charlie was born in Monterrey, California, the son of Vivian and Josephine Price. He received his BA, MA, and PhD from Stanford University. He had a career as a professional oboist, performing in a number of ensembles in both California and Pennsylvania, in addition to his principle career as a Professor of Musicology. His areas of scholarship were Baroque Music and 20th Century Blues and Rock Music. He was Professor Emeritus at Westchester State University in Pennsylvania. After he retired to Taos in 2004, he was appointed to the Garrey Carruthers Distinguished Chair in the Honors Program at UNM Albuquerque. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Susan Pasquarelli; his brother, John Price; daughters Shana and Meghan; and his adopted son, Alexis; and his beloved Siamese cat, Robbie.
