Christine Elizabeth Russell, 70, was born in Melbourne, Australia on December 9th 1946. She passed away at home in Santa Fe, New Mexico on July 6th.
Dearest Christine, your life was an inspiration to all of us touched by your strength of spirit, thoughtfulness, compassion, understanding, and vitality. You lived always, always, positively; with beauty, remarkable strength and profound hope to the end, until hope deserted you. I love you beyond what words can express; and miss you beyond measure, every day.
Christine’s love and joy of classical music were instilled deeply in her being with her passion and self-discoveries from a young age, and throughout her life. She discovered literature when very young and remained an avid reader throughout her life. She made our homes in several cities and states: in Australia, Canada and across the United States; wisely and enthusiastically absorbed new places and with unique insights, and an open mind. She lived; and expected of us acceptance, tolerance, respect and kindness. She loved New Mexico and Santa Fe above all places she discovered; yet remained attached to her origins. Her spirit will endure here with her ashes. She was a devoted mother and role-model to her son, Simon.
