Cynthia Ann Ortiz, age 57, went home to be with our Lord on Sunday April 17, 2022. Cindy, originally from Taos, New Mexico has called the state of Washington home for the past 20 years. This world’s loss is Heavens gain. Cindy was a dedicated and devoted Mom, a loving daughter, a cherished sister, a treasured family member, a respected Veteran, and a fiercely loyal friend. Her love for her daughter, Lily was first and foremost. Time spent with family and friends brought her pure joy and happiness. Her’s was a servants heart, evidenced by her chosen career paths. Cindy retired as a Master Chief from the US Coast Guard in 2003 after 20 years of service in Communications. She continued serving others when she started her next career with the US Forest Service; eventually retiring for a second time in September 2021.
Cindy’s life can best be described as a collection of proud mama moments, cherished memories, fun filled adventures, and friendships that incrementally expanded her family circle. Today as we wipe away the tears, we raise our glasses while looking to the Heavens, thankful for the times we shared and hopeful that our paths meet again. Cindy, you are forever loved and never to be forgotten.
Cindy is survived by her beautiful daughter Lily (Austin-boyfriend), her fur baby Skooter, grand-donkeys Tequila and Rusty, parents Ted & Cecelia, brother Richard, sister Dianna, cousins Dominic/ Sandra/Victor, Aunt Bell, Uncle Pete, other aunts/uncles/nieces/nephews/cousins and wonderful close friends she called her family.
We will celebrate her life with a memorial celebration in Mill Creek, Washington on April 30th. A mass will be held on Friday May 27th at 11:00 am @ St.Anne’s Catholic Church in Santa Fe, NM. She will then be placed to rest with Military Honors at the Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery @ 12:45 pm. A Celebration of Life will follow the cemetery services.
