Clara E. Arellano, 89 years old of Dixon NM, passed away peacefully on 2 October 2012 at St. Vincents Hospital in Santa Fe from a short illness. Clara was born on 24 June 1923 to Jose de Jesus Medina (JD) and Cordelia Medina in Dixon, NM.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved brother Joseph Medina and her husband Celestino. She was a lifelong resident of Dixon, NM, and a member of the St. Anthonys Catholic Church. She is survived by her daughter and caregiver Kayleen Arellano and Melvin from Espanola, her son Gerald and wife Darlene of Dixon and her daughter Maxine Via and husband Jerry of Las Cruces, her granddaughter Geraldine Arellano of Melbourne, FL. , grandson Allen Arellano and wife Lindsay of Rio Rancho, NM. , two great-grandchildren Ira and Asher Arellano. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Laura Medina of Las Cruces and her nephews David, Danny, Robert and Joey Medina and her niece Cordy Medina and many other close friends, relatives and her daughters pets Milagro, Pepper, Snooby and Midnight.
She worked for the US Postal Service in Embudo, NM for about 32 years where she retired as Postmaster in 1985. Clara was very proud of her children and grandchildren. Clara was a very kind and loving person and will be dearly missed by her family and all who knew her. Clara's favorite activities included shopping for clothes with her daughters, going out to eat, and people-watching at the Big Rock Casino. She was very well liked and admired by the casino staff.
The Holy rosary was recited on October 4, 2012. The funeral mass was celebrated on October 5, 2012. Both services were held at St. Anthonys Catholic Church in Dixon. Interment followed at the Father Cooper Cemetery in Embudo, NM.
