Claudina Romero

It is with great sadness that the family of Claudina “Nina” Romero announces her passing on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at the age of 99.

Claudina was born in 1924 to Andrellita and Jose Emilio Fernandez in Arroyo Seco, NM.  She was one of ten children and the spouse of Ruben Romero.  She attended school first in Arroyo Seco and later in Taos.

She will be lovingly remembered by her family and friends for her love and devotion to the Catholic faith.  She could always be found carrying a rosary in her hand or at the very least in her pocket.  Her faith carried over into the Scared Heart League and Catholic Daughters.

Claudina was an early riser and a true morning person.  Her love for mornings was truly a time for her to enjoy those morning walks in the amazing New Mexico Scenery.

Her family remembers her for her flawless and youthful skin, although she maintained a beauty routine, her beauty radiated inside and out.

She will be remembered for her incredible talent for embroidering and crocheting.  She created blankets, dollies, cushion covers and anything you could think of.

She is survived by her sisters, Fabiola Montoya and Olivia Varos, brothers, Robert and Elizardo Fernandez.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Andrellita and Jose Emilio Fernandez, her sister, Alice Gonzales and brothers, Herminio, Honario, Arturo and Arsenio Fernandez.

Special thanks to all the hospice workers and health care workers who cared for Claudina, for the friends and family who brought food, cards and prayers.  A very special thank you to Berna and Annette “Netti” for the special care and love they gave to “Nina”.

Rosary will be recited on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at 9 AM at Holy Trinity Parish in Arroyo Seco with funeral mass at 10 AM also at Holy Trinity Parish in Arroyo with interment to follow at Arroyo Seco Cemetery.
