Claude Esquibel passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on April 29, 2019. Claude served in the Airforce for over 6 years as a military police officer. He returned to Taos in 1966 and worked for the mine in Questa for several years. He then went to work for the Town of Taos and worked there for over 25 years as the water superintendent. He loved working for the town and loved his job and coworkers. Claude is preceeded in death by his wife, Manuelita (Mela) Esquibel, parents Patricio and Rebecca Esquibel and sister and brother – in –law Patsy and Charlie Velsquez as well as sister-in-law Trina Esquibel. Claude is survived by his children; Mike Fernandez (Louise), Ramona Fernandez, Mano Esquibel (Julianna) and Elaine Sanchez(Lynn) and his grandchildren, the love of his life Michael, Bryan and Anthony Fernandez and John and Jack Esquibel as well as his great-grandchildren Josh Casados and Kayla and Michael Fernandez. Claude is also survived by his sisters Becky Torres (Carpio), Sara Espinoza (Juby), Pancha Esquibel and Billy Esquibel. He is also survived by countless aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews and cousins. He also had amazing friends that were always there to support and keep him company.
Rosary will be recited on Friday, May 10, 2019 at 6 PM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Taos. Funeral mass will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 10 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Taos Living Center and Holy Cross Hospital for the amazing care and attention he received while he was there.
