Clay Kinsell

September 27, 1923 — May 11, 2021

Clay L. Kinsell, 97, went to be with the Lord on May 11, 2021, while at home in Santa Fe with his daughter Jean. He was born on September 27, 1923 on the family ranch in Stanley, New Mexico, where he grew up. He served in the army as a lineman in the European theater during World War II, and then returned to the family ranch in Stanley. Clay found Dorothy Lindsey who would become the love of his life and they were married on April 16, 1947. They later moved to Colorado where he continued ranching and later became the manager of the Monte Vista Livestock Auction for many years. In 2011 Clay and Dorothy moved to Santa Fe to be with their daughter Jean.

Clay is preceded in death by his bride of 71 years, Dorothy, his mother and father, Ralph and Nina Kinsell, two sisters, Ruth and Mildred, and two brothers Paul and Russell. He is survived by a son, Clinton Kinsell (Gloria), and two daughters Jean Cordell, and Joan Giere (George), four grandchildren, Tracey Fifield (Tony), Jessica Whitehead (Clay), Travis Kinsell (Mindy), and Heidi VanRoekel (Luke), as well as 14 great grandchildren.

Clay had a deep faith in God, loved his family dearly, and was respected by all. He will be greatly missed. May he rest in peace with his heavenly Father.

Services will be held on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church followed by interment at 2:15 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
