Clorinda Nava

June 10, 1924 — May 18, 2022

After a full life of almost 98 years, Clorinda died peacefully in her sleep on May 18, 2022. She was born in San Jose and was raised in Las Vegas and Santa Fe. She graduated from Loretto Academy and married her high school sweetheart Eleuterio in 1943. During her husband’s military service they lived in Germany and Mississippi. For the fifty years they shared together, they called Santa Fe home. She was a proud professional woman, over her lifetime she worked at Charles Illfield, State Capital, Indian Detours, State Employees CU and Nambe Mills.

She was extremely active in her parish and community and a proud member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Catholic daughters, Union Protectiva Feminina, Cursillo Movement and the Altar Society. She enjoyed line dancing, kitchen band, bowling, senior Olympics and volunteer work with Hospice. She loved traveling, enjoying music, spending time with family, dancing and being a social butterfly. She was loved and cherished by all who knew her.

Preceded in death by her parents Estevan and Dolores Griego, husband Eleuterio, sisters Vivian, Annie, Jessie, Pauly, brothers Frank, Lalo, Pino, Tito, and beloved daughter Therese Martinez (surviving spouse Ray).

She is the last Griego of her generation. She is survived and greatly missed by her sons Ralph (Winona) and Edward (Jeanette) and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A viewing will take place on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at Rivera Family Kiva Chapel of Light from 3:00 pm - 6:00pm. Please come join us on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at Santa Maria De La Paz for a celebration of Clorinda’s life. A rosary will be recited at 9:00am. Funeral mass to follow at 9:45am followed by burial at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Cancer Society, Memory Care Alliance or Hospice in her memory.

Pallbearers will be Mark Nava, Lorenzo Nava, Michael Romero, Erik Trujillo, Michael Austin, and Rodolfo Baca. Honorary pallbearers are Vincent Martinez, Leonard Nava, Rosalie Nava and Rebecca Nava.
