Consuelo Martinez

Consuelo V. Martinez, 82 of Santa Cruz passed away on Monday April 3rd, 2017 surrounded by her loving family after a lengthy illness. She was born to Manuel and Lorencita Velarde who preceded her into the afterlife. She is also preceded in death by her husband of 58 years Patricio Martinez and in-laws Patricio Sr. and Manuelita Martinez, her brothers Ben Velarde and Epimenio Velarde, sisters Rosilla Velarde, Carlotta Martinez, and Domitilia Ortiz. Granddaughter Marissa Martinez, and son in-law Artie Baca. She is survived by her sons Armando (Rosie), Larry (Sylvia), Paul (Bernice), Louis (Nathaniel) and Patrick (Josefina). Daughters Sheila Rivera (Gilbert), Virginia Baca, and Antoinette Padilla (Ted). Her sisters Frances Fresquez, Sennie Kaufman and brothers Tom Velarde and Manuel Velarde Jr. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Consuelo was a devoted wife and mother. She loved to cook, was an amazing baker, and blanket maker. She will be greatly missed by everyone that knew her. Visitatiion will begin at 4pm with a Rosary to follow at 6pm at the Rivera Funeral Home of Espanola on Tuesday, April 11th. The Mass of Christian will be celebrated at 10am on Wednesday, April 12th at Iglesia de Santa Cruz de La Canada. Interment will follow at 12:45pm at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Serving the Family as Pall Bearers will be Anthony Baca, Michael Baca, Curtis Martinez, Andrew Martinez, Randy Martinez, Nathan Martinez, Adrian Martinez, Julian Martinez, Fabian Martinez, Jarrod Padilla, and Brittany Espinoza.
