Cora Pearl Whaley, age 81, of Arroyo Seco, died peacefully on Saturday April 16th after a battle with cancer. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years Everett, parents Walter and Jane Hinds, her beloved brother Walter; and sister Mabel Biddy. She was a faithful member of Coronado Baptist Church where she was treasurer. She was also a member of the Red Hat Ladies, Golden Sneakers and the knitting group at First Church. She is survived by her daughters Bellena Arnold and husband Frank of Montana; Pamela Law and special friend Dan of Los Lunas; special niece and friend Diane Biddy Trujillo; grandchildren John E. Law and wife Carrie of Arroyo Seco; Jim Arnold of Montana; Sherrie Kitto and husband Justin of Montana; Christy Perry and husband Drew of Oklahoma; Tony Law of Los Lunas; Clint Arnold of Montana; Maggie Arnold of Montana; Brian Arnold and wife Julie of Idaho; and brother in law Grady Biddy of Mendanales. Many nieces and nephews also blessed Coras life. The light of Grandma Coras life were 13 beautiful great-grandkids: Colton, Alex, and Jhett Law; Madelyn and Emelise Kitto; Tanner, Chelsea and Kailey Arnold; and Aubrey, Braden, Addie, Cambrey and Delaney Perry. Each was blessed to have Grandma Cora; they all have such special memories of this beautiful lady. If you knew Cora, you had a friend, perhaps even another mother, for life. She blessed and was blessed with many friends.
Visitation was held on Monday April 18th, with an evening funeral service. Burial was taken place at the National Cemetery on Tuesday, April 19th, followed by interment. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Baptist Childrens Home, P.O. Box 629, Portales, NM 88130. Pallbearers named are: John E. Law, Anthony D. Law, Frank Arnold, Brian Arnold, Clint Arnold, Dan Williams, and Ernest Williams., with honorary pallbearers being : Colton Law, Mark Trujillo, Richard Roybal, Larry Honeycutt, Steve Bell.
