Corina Martinez

Corina V. Martinez - 92; Born November 20, 1929 to Victoriano and Eulalia Valdez  from Velarde, NM passed away peacefully on Friday April 8, 2022 at her home in Velarde surrounded by her loving family. Corina was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years Emilio A. Martinez, parents Victoriano and Eulalia, brothers Jay, Richard and Donald Valdez, son-in-laws David Naranjo and Felix Garcia and granddaughter Judith Naranjo.

Mrs. Martinez leaves behind 8 children; Diolinda Naranjo (David), Sandra Martinez (Michael), Virginia Martinez, Nora Garcia (Felix), Deborah Stevens (Walter), Rick Martinez, Denise Martinez (Chris Chavez) and Robert Martinez (Renee), as well as 13 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.  Corina is also survived by her brother Joe Valdez (Rachel) and sisters Vicky Jaramillo (Manuel) and Eliza Miera (Bobby), along with numerous extended family and friends.

Corina worked for many years as a nurse's aide at the Espanola Hospital.  She also served as Postal Clerk alongside her husband Emilio, who was the Postmaster in Velarde, for the United States Postal Service. She was a loving mother and homemaker with a deep devotion to serving the Lord.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30am on Thursday, April 21, 2022 at the Rivera Family Funeral Home in Espanola, New Mexico.  Interment will follow at the Velarde Apostolic Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be David Naranjo Jr., Donna Martinez, Joseph Garcia, Keith Garcia, Rachel Stevens, Francisco Chavez, Megan Osmus and Emilio F. Martinez.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Loryn Naranjo, Michael Martinez Jr., Ann Stevens, Elizabeth Stevens and Camilo Martinez.

The Martinez family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Presbyterian Northern New Mexico Hospice and to the many family and friends for all the loving support and prayers.
