Corina V. Duran

Corina V. Duran – Age 93, a resident of Vadito, passed away on Sunday, February 5th. Corina was a well known educator and lived a very active life following her retirement from the Peñasco Schools. She was involved in the County 4-H program, sponsoring an exchange program with Japanese students. She undertook tax training with AARP and assisted the elderly with their taxes from 1979 to 1993. She was an active member with the Carmelitas Catholic Society of Rodarte. She was an avid gardener and crotchetier in her spare time. She will be missed dearly by her family, friends and community. She is preceded in death by husband, Roger L. Duran, son, Roger I. Duran, grandson, Luis Duran, parents, Benito and Maria Valdez, seven, brothers and sisters, four sister and brother in laws; and mother and father-in laws, Luis and Refugio Duran. May their souls rest in peace. She is survived by her daughter, Marie Lorraine Gallegos and husband Wilfred of Vadito, daughter in law, Nora Duran of Rodarte, grandchildren, Stella Sweeney , Josie Duran, Wilfred Gallegos, Anita Richards, Judy Merrill, John Duran, and Carlos Gallegos; sisters: Minnie Valdez, Estella Barreras, brothers, Juan Valentin Valdez of Lancaster, CA, Gilbert Valdez of Vadito, and Octaviano Valdez of Penasco; sister-in-law, Faby Romero of Rodarte, brother in law, John Duran of Montana; and numerous other relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited on Tuesday, February 7, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. at the San Antonio de Padua Catholic Church in Peñasco. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 8, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at the San Antonio de Padua Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the Rodarte Cemetery.
