Cosme Garcia Jr.

Cosme H. Garcia Jr. (born 12/29/1944) passed away peacefully in his sleep at home Feb. 14, 2022, surrounded by his family.  Throughout his life, he loved and was committed to his family, faith, and community.  Cosme attended St. Michaelś and Santa Fe High School and later enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served six years in the late '60s.

Cosme met and married the love of his life, Patsy Quintana, with whom he had three children: Eddie, Jennier and Christine.  Work included traveling throughout the United States with Mountain Bell, then coming home to work for the State of New Mexico.  Cosme later worked in security and for Kmart; plus, he never tired of helping his friends and neighbors with work in and around their houses.

While work occupied much of time, Cosme enjoyed fishing and camping with friends and family, as well as riding his motorcycle and working on his hobbies.  Holidays found him enjoying time with his family.

Cosme is survived by his wife, Patsy; son, Eddie; daughters Jennifer (Tom) and Christine (Ivan); grandchildren,  Matthew, Joey, Cherise (Fabian), Antonio (2), Santiago, and Patrick; and great grandchildren Brooke, Mariah, Thomas and Gabriella.  Other survivors are his siblings Patsy (Kim), Margaret, Angie (Louie), Carol, Robert, Johnny and Gwen, as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was reunited in heaven with his parents, Cosme Hipolito Garcia Sr., and May Walsh Garcia, and his brothers Anthony and James (Jimbo) Garcia.

Visitation will be held at Rivera Family Funerals & Cremation (417 E. Rodeo Rd.) on Tuesday, Feb. 22, from 4 to 6 p.m., followed by a Rosary from 6 to 7 p.m.  Mass will be held at St. Annś Parish (511 Alicia St.) on Wednesday, Feb. 23, at 10 a.m. Burial at the Santa Fe National Cemetery (501 N. Guadalupe St.) will be Tuesday, March 15, at 1:30 p.m.  Pallbearers are Tom Ortiz, Ivan Baca, Matthew Montano, Fabian Nevarez, Santiago Velarde, Patrick Velarde.  Honorary Pallbearers are Joey Ortiz, Antonio Garcia, Antonio Baca and Cosmeś children and siblings.
