Craig Schellenberg Barnes a resident of Santa Fe, NM passed away November 4, 2015 of Lymphoma at the age of 79. He was born in Denver, CO to Thedia & Donald Barnes. He proudly served as a First LT in the US Army and was a candidate for US Congress later in 1970. Craig was a member of the National Governing Board of Common Cause and a recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award. He was selected in 2013 by the Santa Fe New Mexican as 10 Who Make a Difference, served on the Santa Fe Railyard Commission, and named a Living Treasure in 2014. He was a practicing attorney in the states of CA, CO, & NM, a journalist, essayist, author, playwright, & radio host with KSFR, and a loving husband, father, & grandfather.
Craig is preceded in death by his parents Thedia & Donald Barnes he is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years Mikaela Pike Barnes, sons William S. Barnes (Julia), Thomas C. Barnes (Rebecca), daughters Elizabeth B. King (Watt), Maria B. Goodman (Randolph), grandchildren Embra, Eli, Jacob (Maddie), Noelle, Cody, Tucker, Nicole, Erika, Lucy, Thomas, and Oliver. He is also survived by brothers Frank S. Barnes (Gay) and Erik Barnes (Tina).
A Life Celebration will be held 2 pm Saturday, November 28, 2015 at the Rivera Kiva Chapel of Light.
