Crusita “Cuchi” Perea Obituary

Crusita “Cuchi” Perea was called by our Lord and Mother Mary on Friday November 17th, 2023. She was 67 years old. Born in Modesto, California November 2nd, 1956, Crusita grew up in Turlock, California where she graduated from Turlock High School in 1975. That same year on New Year’s Day, Cuchi met Jerry. It was a match made in heaven. They married August 7th, 1976, and had three sons. On August 7th, 1982, they left California for New Mexico to raise their boys in the country in his grandparent’s adobe home.

Cuchi loved working in her yard. From planting morning glories and trees to using her weed eater to tame the Rowe weeds. Cuchi also loved cooking for family and friends as she was almost always in the kitchen when anyone would come over to visit. Making her Cali style flour tortillas with a pot of beans cooking on the stove and preparing the jalapenos for her award-winning salsa. Cuchi loved being a homemaker. She was an excellent homemaker for 47 years. Cuchi’s laughter and smile will always be remembered as she loved everyone and was loved by all. The Mexican revolutionary and champion of the rural poor, Emiliano Zapata was her favorite hero. Cuchi loved wearing her Zapata tees and spending time with her family and friends listening, laughing, and being there anytime you needed her. She will be missed terribly but is now in peace.

Preceded in death by Grandparents, Luis and Ma-Maria; Parents, Juan and Josephine Rivas, Valeriano Ruesga; Sibling’s, Lupe Jimenez, Tillie (Manuel) Arroyo, Uvaldo Ruesga; In-Laws Joe and Mercedes Perea; many uncles, aunts, cousins and friends to mention.
