Cynthia Weiler(Varoz) was born in Espanola, New Mexico on April 4th, 1943 and passed away peacefully in Santa Fe on September 13th, 2023, surrounded by family. She was 80 years old. She married Edward (Tink) Weiler on 11/27/1965 in Santa Fe, New Mexico and they remained married for 57 wonderful years until her passing. She was preceeded in death by her parents Jose Varoz and Eloisa Varoz (Trujillo) and her sister’s Loretta Varoz and Agnes Varoz. She is survived by her husband, her three sons and their wives, Thomas (Jeanette), Mark (Erin), and Steven (Devon), and her beloved grandchildren: Thomas, Dominic, Christopher, Phoebe, Sarah, Logan, Dayne, Isabella, Elliana, Adelina and Monroe. She is also survived by her sisters Martha Ewing, Judy Long, Gloria Whitaker and brothers Philip Varoz and Joseph Varoz.
She graduated from the Regina School of Nursing in November 1964 and became a Registered Nurse February 23, 1965, and had a distinguished career of 45 years. She was a dedicated parishioner of Santa Maria De La Paz from its founding. She volunteered with many of their ministries, including minster of hospitality and the sewing and knitting angels.
She was a very artistic and creative person who enjoyed knitting, sewing, quilting, gardening, cooking and traveling.
She loved to spend time with her grandchildren, niece’s and nephew’s as she taught them crafts, knitting, cooking, and games. They in turn taught their cherished Grandma how to best use the internet and technology.
She will be dearly missed by her family and everyone that she touched in her journey of her wonderful life. We take comfort in the knowledge that she is in a better place and being looked after by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
A Rosary will be held on Friday September 22nd, 2023, from 6:00 to 7:00 PM at Rivera’s Family Funeral Home (419 Rodeo Road, Santa Fe, NM). The Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday September 23rd, 2023, at 10:00 AM at Santa Maria De La Paz (11 College Ave, Santa Fe, NM). Burial services are scheduled on Friday September 29th, 2023 at 9:00 AM at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
