Daneille Smail

On Monday, April 8, 2024, Danielle Jeanne Smail, loving wife and mother of two

children, passed away at the age of 41. She passed away peacefully at home

surrounded by her loving family.

Danielle was born on August 11, 1982 in Las Cruces, NM to Jean E. Taylor and

Michael A. Taylor. She received her bachelors degree from the University of

Phoenix. She worked for the New Mexico National Educators Association for 11

years in Santa Fe, NM. She loved working with NEA. Danielle was a member of

Rotary Club of Santa Fe Del Sur. On February 4, 2006 she married the love of her

life, John Jacob Smail, Sr. They raised two children, a daughter, Elizabeth, and a

son, John Jr.

Danielle loved creating nail art, crocheting, math and numbers. She was an avid

collector of Dr. Who memorabilia, frogs, and had a green thumb for plants. She

enjoyed watching her husband play softball and hanging out with his softball

family. She was known for her quick wit, her infectious laugh, and her kind and

compassionate spirit.

Danielle was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Donald R. Hamilton,

paternal grandparents Ernest and Priscilla Taylor, maternal cousin Caleb Ezekiel

Hamilton, and paternal cousin Eric Joseph Taylor.

Danielle is survived by her grandmother, Virginia M. Hamilton, her parents, Jean

E. Taylor, and Michael Taylor, her husband John Sr., her two children, Elizabeth

and John Jr., her sisters Eva Marquez and husband Chris, Sarah Taylor, her brother

Michael A. Taylor and his wife Ria, her parent-in-laws Anne Jones and Anthony

Cordova and an extended family of relations and friends from every walk of life.

A rosary will be recited Friday, May 10th, 2024 at Santa Maria De La Paz Catholic Church, 11 College Ave, Santa Fe, NM at 9:30 a.m., followed by a catholic mass at 10 o’clock a.m. A reception will immediately follow in the church social space.
