September 4, 1973 — February 23, 2025

Daniel Raymond Rael

It is with a heavy heart and profound sadness that we share the sudden passing of our beloved son, brother, and uncle Daniel Rael who was called to be with Our Lord Sunday February 23, 2025. He was born and raised in Santa Fe, New Mexico and graduated from Santa Fe High/Vo-Tech. During high school he worked at United Artists Movie Theater, where he met several of his lifelong friends. Soon after high school graduation he found his passion for banking where was able to equally use his people skills and intellect. He worked for various banks throughout the years and ultimately, he became the Chief Lending Officer at Guadalupe Credit Union. Later in his life he made the choice to venture into starting his own company where he specialized in water, fire, and mold remediation. He also cared deeply about the Santa Fe Community and the fiesta traditions. He was a part of Santa Fe Fiesta Council since 2007 where he served as vice president, treasurer, and parades chair.

Family and friends were central to his life; he was always willing to lend a helping hand, a listening ear, or words of encouragement. We all sought his guidance when faced with difficult decisions, and he consistently responded with positivity and support. He believed in everyone he met and wanted each of his loved ones to succeed in everything they did. Throughout his life, he amassed countless friends who saw him as a mentor, an older brother, or a father figure. He was truly a mentor to many.

He also adored his Yorkies—Gizmo, Fozzie, Porsche, and Rusty. He loved treating them to spa days where they were pampered as they deserved. Keeping them looking their best was an absolute must and rarely did a Halloween pass without them being dressed up as some of his favorite movie characters.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Ramon and Mollie Coriz; paternal grandparents, Daniel and Annie Montoya; uncles, Henry and Jerome Coriz; and cousins, Patrick Baca, Stephanie and Denise Coriz. He is survived by his parents, Robert and Ernestine Rael; his beloved dogs, who were like his children: Gizmo, Fozzie, Porsche, and Rusty; his siblings, Jessica, Laurie, and Justin Rael (Cheryl Dean); his nephews, Jacob and Jeremy Rael; his uncle, Robert Coriz (Kelly); his aunts, Arlene Coriz, Diane Baca (John Trujillo), Marian Coriz (James Payne), Marie McClure, and Yvonne Coriz; as well as numerous cousins and friends.

Family and friends are invited to join for the rosary at 10:00am on Monday March 10, 2025, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. This will be followed by a funeral mass at 11:00am and interment at Rosario Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Robert Coriz, James Payne, Terrell McClure, Michael Baca, Jordan Coriz, and Sean Coriz. Honorary Pallbearers will be Justin Rael, Jacob Rael, Jeremy Rael, Steven McClure, Damian Romero, and David Rodriguez.
