Daniel Lance Bauhs, 60, left planet earth on January 24 at Taos Ski Valley , doing what he loved to do most, skiing powder with the person he loved most, his wife and soul mate, Rose.
Dan was a beautiful baby born at 11:06 am on December 16, 1951 in Manhattan Beach , CA . As a youngster he loved to fish with his family at Mammoth Mountain in northern California . Dan had many lifelong friends from Aviation High School , then went on to enjoy the beach life with an ocean view apartment. In 1974 he followed in his father's footsteps by choosing the same career path as a Telecommunications Technician. Over the course of 33 years he gained advanced network specialty skills working with General Telephone, A T & T, Pacific Telephone, Mountain Bell, US West and Qwest in Taos and Angel Fire. For the past three years, he worked for Darwin Electrical Solutions.
It was this choice of career that led him to Rose's front door for a telephone service repair call. One year later, on Valentine's Day in 1993, he married Rose in a candlelight ceremony. For nearly two decades the two were known for the adventures they shared together from bicycling to skiing the steepest runs, hiking and camping with his two dogs, motorcycling and entertaining friends. Dan volunteered for many bicycle and motorcycle events including those for sanctioned charitable events.
At the age of 19, he started growing his beard and never shaved it except for the occasional trim that his wife was delighted to do for him. Dan's smiling furry face was well known on the slopes of Taos Ski Valley and Angel Fire, as he became the most genuine Santa Claus around. He has been spotted riding his Harley Road Glide with the beard blowing in the wind.
Dan is survived by his wife Rose; his mother Bette; two sisters - Terri and husband Donald and their two children Matthew and Leesa; Zenna and her two children Warren and Maggie; their spouses Christina and Jason; nieces and nephews Ashlynn, Kalee, Zackery, Jordan and Xander; cousins Jim and wife Valerie; Bill; Rex and wife Carmen; Janis and husband Chris. The family has said their "Danny Boy" will always be cherished and are forever thankful for the beautiful life he had. He is surrounded in spirit and complete devotion and adoration by everyone that knew him.
