Daniel "Danny" Spallitta

September 1, 1972 — October 1, 2019

Danny Spallitta, 47, went to be with the Lord and his grandmas on October 1, 2019. He had been sick for about a week and passed away with his parents by his side.

Danny was a friend to all who met him. He was mentally handicapped and gave his family and friends great joy. He had a smile and sparkling blue eyes for everyone he knew, and he was known for flirting with the ladies who cared for him. He grew up in Los Alamos and went to school there, graduating in 1994. He moved to an independent living home and later to the Los Alamos group home, both under the care of Las Cumbres Community Services. There he lived with three other men who were very protective of him, along with the wonderful staff at the home and at his day program who provided wonderful care and love to him. He went to his parent’s home once in a while and stayed over night, but was always anxious to go back to “his home” and his friends. He liked riding in the car, watching football games and seeing lots of people. When he was out about town, people would often stop to say hello to him. He briefly had a job with the Pizza Hut in White Rock, but after a year he decided he didn’t want to work any more.

Danny was preceded in death by his four grandparents, his Uncle Chuck, Aunt Carol and Uncle Frank. He is survived by his parents Joe and Erika Spallitta, his sister Nancy Spallitta Vierra, his brother-in-law Douglas Vierra, his niece Ella Vierra and many cousins.
