Daniel Medina

Dan Medina was born on May 23, 1933 in Chimayo, NM.     He was born to Jose Ramon and Sarita Medina.   Dan peacefully went to be with the Lord on August 16, 2022, following a short illness at the age of 89.  He is survived by his wife Mickie with whom he celebrated on July 21st their 66th wedding anniversary.

He was surrounded by his most treasured loved ones, including his wife Mickie, his son Mario and companion April who he truly loved as a daughter, his granddaughters Moorea and Ava, Josie, and April’s daughter, Destiny, Father Julio, and Father Sebastian.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Lucia Medina and granddaughter Danielle Romero. He is survived by his granddaughter Michelle Romero and great grandson Adrian Chacon and many extended family members. 

Dan, AKA  “Danny Boy” honorably served his Country in the United States Army.  Upon his return home, he started his early entrepreneurial career, where he spent the rest of his life building a successful family business.  He will be remembered as a strong, intelligent, and hard-working man. Dan will be loved and missed by many. 

A special thanks to April who was by Dan’s side from the beginning, attending to him in his illness.  She was his main caretaker. Dan thought of her and loved her as his own daughter, referring to her his “jita”, his jewel, and pearl.  And her referring to him as “Dan the man.”

The Medina family would like to extend their gratitude to Destiny who lovingly and graciously attended and helped care for Dan’s medical care.   Alex, his niece who spent time with him when he needed help.  Many thanks to friends and family members who came to visit, and for the many calls over the last several weeks.

Services will be held at Holy Family Church in Chimayo on Tuesday, August 30, 2022, beginning with a rosary @ 9:00am followed by the funeral mass in celebration of life @ 10:00am.

The Medina family has entrusted the care of their beloved Danny Boy to Rivera Family Funerlas & Cremations of Espanola, New Mexico.
