Bryan Emery, a brilliant mathematician, gifted musician, and deeply spiritual man, was born on June 21, 1955 in Roswell, New Mexico and passed away surrounded by his loving family on September 10, 2024 in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leotha Ann Shultz, and David Wesley Emery. Bryan leaves behind a legacy of love, wisdom, and faith, cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Bryan is survived by his devoted wife of 40 years, Karen Kay Hoover Emery, and his three sons: David Shon Emery, Matthew Ray Emery and his spouse, Karina Marie Emery, and Adam Jay Emery. He was the proud grandfather of two grandchildren, David Sebastian Emery, and Azaleigh Elizabella Emery. Bryan is also survived by his sister, Karen Emery Humphrey, and her spouse, Stephen Humphey; their son, AnDrue Humphrey, and his wife, Jacqueline Anderson; and his younger brother, Kendal Ray Emery.
His extended family includes his beloved mother-in-law, Mary Elizabeth Vion Hoover, and father-in-law, Roger Lewis Hoover, as well as his sister-in-law, Diana Dee Hoover Chandler, and her spouse, Robert Chandler, along with their children: Jason Chandler and his spouse, Alicia, Aaron Chandler and his spouse, Anna, and Nolan Chandler and his spouse, Marie. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Jeffery Jay Hoover, his spouse, Mona Hoover, and their daughter, Isabelle Hoover.
Bryan’s faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of his life. Raised in the Assemblies of God, his relationship with the Lord was central to everything he did. For over 30 years, he faithfully served as a worship leader, sharing his love for God with Churches all over New Mexico. His passion for playing the piano was deeply connected to his faith. Whether at home or in Church, every note he played was an offering of praise to the Lord. The joy he found in music was always directed towards glorifying God, and his music touched the hearts of many.
Bryan’s spirituality was woven into every aspect of his life. He was a man who consistently drew on his faith to guide his actions, whether leading worship, offering counsel, or simply being a loving husband, father, and friend. His deep connection with God gave him strength, and his wisdom was often shaped by his understanding of scripture and his unwavering belief in God’s grace.
As a husband, Bryan’s marriage to Karen was a beautiful testament to a lifelong partnership grounded in shared faith, unwavering love, and mutual respect. Their bond, forged over four decades, only deepened with time, as they faced life's joys and challenges side by side. Their relationship was rooted in a deep spiritual connection, with Christ at the center of their marriage. Through their shared devotion, they built a home filled with love, peace, and faith, serving as an example of what it means to truly live in partnership with one another and with God. Karen was not just Bryan’s wife but his closest confidant, and their love story was one of loyalty, laughter, and shared dreams.
