David Fayette-Salazar

David Adrian Fayette Salazar (Stokes)

David Salazar was born in Santa Fe, NM on February 12, 1954 to Allen Fayette Salazar and Gloria Padilla Salazar.  He passed away at the age of 68, on April 21, 2022.  Upon graduating from St. Michael’s High School in 1971, he attended the University of New Mexico, later transferring to New Mexico State University, where he completed his B.A. in 1977. He went on to attend University of Colorado Boulder, where he obtained a MFA in Creative Writing in 1979. He was a poet, intellectual, and to his family and friends, an extraordinary person, always kind and steadfast in his love and commitment to his family and those who cared about him.

He is survived by brother, Robert Salazar, his sisters, Sandra Salazar and Theresa Salazar, and his nephews, Aaron Sternfield, Francisco Troy and Miguel Troy.

He was preceded in his death by his parents.

There will be a rosary recited at 9:00 a.m. followed by a mass at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Anne Catholic Church in Santa Fe, on May 17, 2022. Interment will follow at Rosario Cemetery. His life, his creative spirit, and our rich memories of him will be forever cherished.
