David Torres

November 14, 1931 — April 28, 2020

In loving memory and spirit of David Ronald Torres.

Born November 14, 1931 in Denver, CO to parent's Eugene and Addie Torres. Died April 28, 2020 in Santa Fe, NM and was laid to rest at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.

David was born during the Great Depression in Denver as one of three brothers. He is survived by 7 children, 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

David was a collegiate athlete at Trinidad State Junior College, setting local records with his football and baseball stats. At the young age of 18, David joined the United States Marine Corps and served in the artillery division in the Korean War. David is a proud Purple Heart recipient.

David went on to get his Masters in education and worked as an educator and administrator for 42 years. He was teacher and principal in New Mexico and Texas. When he retired, he became a cattle rancher on the Torres family ranch in Model, CO. He spent his final years in Santa Fe, NM.

David is remembered by friends and family as a kind, generous man with a sharp sense of humor. He loved his family and being around children. He lived a long life and was always teaching, in one form or another. He loved his children and never gave up on anyone that he knew. It is safe to say, everyone who knew David loved him and recognized the special light that he possessed. A light that he graciously shared with everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be missed by many.
