Deacon Andy Dimas
November 9, 1945 – January 19, 2023
Deacon Andy Dimas, 77, was called to our Lord on January 19th, 2023. He had been bravely battling cancer for the past 5 ½ years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Mary Lou. He is also survived by: his children, Leona and husband Stephen, and Sophia; his grandchildren, Teresa, Lesi, Tina and Dorian and 2 great grandchildren, his brother Abe Dimas and sister Mary Helen Dimas and several nephews and nieces.
Deacon Andy served in the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War. He retired from the Bureau of Land Management after 30 years. He went on to become a Deacon in the Catholic Church and was ordained in June of 2003. During this ministry, he served as a Deacon at St. Anne Parish in Santa Fe. He was the Chaplain at the N.M. State Penitentiary for 5 years. He continued to work with the prison after he retired from the N.M. State Penitentiary. He was involved in many other ministries. He dearly loved his service to the Church, and was fulfilled spiritually with this as his true calling.
He loved the outdoors and passionately advocated for the care of all God’s creation.
Deacon Andy touched the lives and was deeply loved by so many people and will be greatly missed.
A Rosary will be held at 11:00 a.m. on February 3rd, with the funeral mass to follow at 12:00 p.m. The burial will be at the National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. and then a reception at St. Anne Parish in Santa Fe, 511 Alicia St, Santa Fe, NM 87501.
