Delfinia Roybal

Delfinia Roybal (Grandma Bunny) passed away on February 15, 2025. She was born on May 20, 1948, in Pecos, NM to Consuelo (Varela) Quintana and Ruben Quintana Sr. She attended Pecos Independent Schools from elementary school to high school, graduating in 1967. After high school, she attended Vogue Cosmetology School in Santa Fe, NM. In 1971, she married her honey, Joe Roybal. Delfinia had a 35-year career in cosmetology in which she enjoyed making her clients feel beautiful. She retired from The Ritz Beauty Salon in downtown Santa Fe. Delfinia loved gardening and spending time outside working in her yard. She was also an avid reader, often reading multiple books at one time. She especially loved spending time with her four granddaughters, playing games and making crafts. She is remembered by friends and family as an elegant, stylish dresser—she had a keen eye for fashion and design. Delfinia also held strong Catholic faith. She participated in Bible study groups and attended mass regularly at St. Anthony’s Parish in Pecos. 

Delfinia is survived by her beloved husband of 53½ years, Joe Roybal; her children, Kevin Roybal (Victoria) and Karen Roybal Montoya (Jeff); four granddaughters: Victoria Romero (Xavier), Angelique Roybal (CJ), Katelin Roybal (Santiago), and Summer Montoya; two great-grandsons: Joshua and Niall; her siblings, Madeline Griego (Herman) and Ruben Quintana Jr. (Annabelle); brothers and sisters-in-law Flora Lujan, Viola Vigil (Jesús), Julian Roybal (Florinda), Marcella Roybal, Gloria Valencia (Horacio), James Roybal (Hilda), numerous nieces and nephews, and her special comadre, Maryann Bowles. She was preceded in death by her father, Ruben Quintana, her mother, Consuelo Varela Quintana, her brothers, Clarence and Donald Quintana, her sister, Nora Quintana, her in-laws, Jóse María Roybal Sr. and Carmelita Rivera Roybal, sisters and brothers-in-law, Tiburcio Roybal, Jessie Roybal, Lucy Yrene, Frances Valencia, Bobby Valencia, and Vivian Lujan. A rosary will be recited at Rivera Family Funerals and Cremations on Wednesday, February 26 at 6:00 p.m. A rosary and funeral mass will be held at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Pecos, NM on Thursday, February 27 at 10:00 a.m.
