Dennis L. Quintana, 57, of Cuarteles, passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2013 following an illness.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Benito and Celsa Quintana; and infant brother, Daniel Quintana. He is survived by his brother, David Quintana of Cuarteles; sisters, Dolores E. Roybal (and husband Paul), and Diane Quintana of Espanola; and numerous aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends.
Born on September 6, 1956 in Oakland, California, Dennis lived most of his life in Cuartales and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science from New Mexico Highlands University. He was employed as an environmental scientist for the State of New Mexico. Upon retiring, he pursued his lifelong interests full time of hunting, fishing, chess and art work, including his creative piñatas; a favorite Christmas gift. He also contributed to several charities such as animal shelters and fire fighter associations. He most enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and his dog, Duke.
Public visitation took place December 26, 2013, followed by a rosary at at the Rivera Chapel of the Rivera Family Funeral Home & Crematory. Funeral mass was celebrated December 27, 2013 at Santa Cruz de la Cañada Catholic Church. Burial followed at the Santa Cruz Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Leroy Espinoza, Israel Maestas, Genaro Rael, Delbert Trujillo, Dan Valerio, and Marcelino Vigil.
