Dennis Martinez

Dennis Martinez “Dionicio or Mitch” 79 of Chimayo NM passed away on January 4th, 2024.   He was born on September 30, 1944 to Toribio and Celsa Martinez (Trujillo) and was raised by Atanacio and Eva Martinez (Trujillo).  He was married to Gloria Garcia of Hernandez on November 11th, 1969 and they had two children, Timothy “Timo” and Tammy.  His grandchildren are Felicia Renteria (Ricardo) Desiree, Gabran, Samuel and Stacie.  His great-grandchildren are Steven Cordova and Lynnae Renteria.

He is preceded in Death by parents Toribio and Celsa, and Atanacio and Eva, and by his siblings:  Anselmo, Alicia Glass, Gavino, Hector, Natalia Moya, Eluid, Orlando, and Lorenzo and his son Timothy Dennis Martinez. He had many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins who have also passed. They are remembered and honored here.

He is survived by his sister Lita, and brother Bobby, daughter Tammy, mother of his children Gloria, 6 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, many cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was a man of many trades but loved auto mechanics and being a truck driver.  He always had something to do and somewhere to go. He had many friends and acquaintances and knew his neighbors.  He resided in Albuquerque for many years but spent the last 20 years of his life in Hernandez to be near his family.  The last 10 years of his life he suffered the effects of several accidents and many health problems.  We would like to extend a special thank you to Lilianna Martinez RN, the staff of Ambercare Home Health Care, and Santa Fe Care Center who provided care for him in his last days.

Public viewing will be held at Rivera Chapel Thursday, January 11,2024 from 2-3PM.

Rosary will be held Friday, January 19,2024 at 11AM with Mass to follow at 12PM at the San Jose Church in Hernandez, NM.
