Dewey Bullard, after a brief illness, went home to be with the Lord on February 21, 2024, at the age of 94.
Dewey was born in Amarillo, Texas, on January 17, 1930. He was a proud Texan who worked on various farms in his youth. He enlisted in the Army at the very young age of 17, with his mother’s signature and consent, and was stationed at Ft. Hood in Killeen, Texas.
Dewey moved to Santa Fe in the early 1960s. This is where he shared his life with his wife of 58 years, Beulah Bullard. He was also an entrepreneur and had several businesses, including training and racing quarter horses, teaching defensive driving classes, and teaching CPR classes.
Dewey was a passionate, long-time resident who was a proud member of the Santa Fe community, serving the Rotary Club and the National Safety Council for decades.
Dewey was preceded in death by his mother, Nina Faye Forgerson, and his sister, Betty Stecher.
Dewey is survived by his wife, Beulah Bullard; two daughters, Gail Parker and her husband Kenneth, of Rio Rancho, NM; and Carol Lockwood and her husband Fred, of Austin, Texas; 5 grandchildren, Michelle Dolch, Shannon Van Gilst, Kandis Gomez, Shawn Solsbery, and Johnny Parker; 9 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.
Many, many thanks to Dewey’s wife, Beulah, for the loving care she gave him during his disability for the last ten years of his life.
