Diana Cathy Romero

Dianna Romero-Lopez, age 67 of Santa Fe, NM passed away peacefully in the early morning of March 5th, 2021 after a 3-year battle with Breast Cancer. She was born January 21st 1954 in Taos, NM to Joe P Romero and Lillie E Romero. Dianna was a 1971 graduate of Taos High School and attended New Mexico Highlands University. Moving to Santa Fe in the early 80’s, Dianna worked as a bookkeeper/accountant for various organizations while raising 3 children. Dianna’s greatest love was for her children and grandchildren, where you could find her fully engaged with them as they played. Or you could find her in the kitchen making her favorite New Mexican dishes. But most likely, you would find her at her favorite Casino doing her winning shimmy dance. Dianna is preceded in death by her grandparents, Felipe and Maclovia Romo; parents, Joe P and Lillie E Romero; brother, Kido Romero; and sisters, Ruby Gay, Shirley H. Romero and Mackie Romero. Dianna is survived by her husband, Retired USMC Master Sergeant Chris Lopez; brothers, Eligio and wife Patricia Romo, Johnny and wife Carol Romero; sister, JoAnn Swinderski; son, Carlos Miera and wife Jennifer; daughters, Mackie Romero and husband Gabe, Michele Romero (Francisco); and adopted daughter, Sydney (Krista). Dianna is also survived by 12 grandchildren: Briana, Julian, Nicole, Jacob, Alazae, Angelica, Arianna, Sophia, Gavin, Aria, Layla and Kises. The recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held on Saturday May 8th at 9:30am with the Funeral Mass to follow at 10am at Santa Maria de La Paz Catholic Parish in Santa Fe, NM. These services will also be live streamed at: smdlp.org for those unable to attend. A COVID-safe celebration of life will be held at a location TBD depending on the latest local COVID guidelines and restrictions. Due to current COVID restrictions a private Interment will be held on Monday May 10th at the Santa Fe Veteran’s National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers and to celebrate the life of Dianna, the family suggests sending memorial donations to the University of New Mexico's Comprehensive Cancer Center Women's Cancer Fund, which supports cutting-edge breast cancer research, or to a cancer cause of your choice. The family would like to express its thanks for the care that was received at the Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center in Gilbert, AZ. Also, a special thank you to Good Samaritan Hospice and Nurse Aimee.
