Dilia M. Maestas, born on October 29, 1924 passed away on February 12, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. She was a proud Taos High School graduate at a time when most women didn’t further their education. She retired from Holy Cross Hospital after twenty nine years of service. Upon raising her four children she also helped raise two grandchildren after the loss of their mothers and is also responsible raising two great grandchildren so their mothers could pursue their college education. She is preceded in death by her parents, Luis and Eva Romero, her husband, Benito Maestas, son, David “Chap” Maestas, brothers, Abenico and Severo Romero, daughter in law, Gloria Maestas and granddaughter, Maria Maestas. She is survived by her children, Miguel “Susan” Maestas, Benita Martinez, Sylvia “Fred” Gallegos, grandchildren, David “Janet” Maestas, Casandra Carrazco, Marisol “Greg” Trujillo, Nina “Scott” Thompson, Marcos Gallegos. She is also survived by her great grandchildren, Esteban Carrazco, Aaron Carrazco, Santiago “The Sants” Thompson, Mateo “Tank” Thompson, Ryen Maestas Ortega, Shayne Trujillo, Zack and Joe Trujillo, brothers, Edwin and Luis Romero and her dear sister in law, Alice Maestas.
Rosary will be recited on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at 7 PM at Rivera Chapel. Funeral mass will be held on Friday, February 23, 2018 at 10 AM at San Francisco de Asis Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the San Francisco Cemetery.
