Dirk Martinez

Dirk R. Martinez, 82, passed away peacefully at his home on July 7, 2017. He served in the Special Forces and was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam war. He was awarded The Army Commendation Medal for his service. He was born on September 21, 1934 and was originally from Taos, New Mexico. He is preceded in death by his parents, Amador O. and Carolina Martinez and brother, Roberto Martinez. He is survived by his daughters, Caren Harkins (Tony), Carla Oellerich (Ted), Michelle Carrie Blount (Jeb), son, Dirk S. Martinez, beloved cousins and caretakers, Joe Cordova and Grace Andrade and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at the Ranchos de Taos Presbyterian Church at 10 AM on Thursday, July 13, 2017 located at State Road 68 and San Francisco Road in Ranchos de Taos. Interment with military honors will follow at the Descanzo Cemetery on Highway 518. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at 1313 Pedro Drive, NE, Albuquerque, New Mexico 87110.
