D. June Jennerjahn

D. June Jennerjahn, 98, of Taos, New Mexico passed away peacefully at home with her children by her side on May 26, 2017. She was born December 26, 1918 in a ranch house in Sand Creek, Wyoming near Beulah, to Joseph M. Allread and Edith Hilton Allread. As a child, she and her mother would ride a buckboard into the Bearlodge Mountains every summer to prove up on the last homestead in Wyoming. She graduated from Sundance High School as valedictorian at age 16. She hitchhiked to the University of Wyoming and went door to door to find room and board while attending college. She obtained a teaching degree and taught K through 12 in rural Wyoming one-room school houses. She heard the gospel in 1936 and was faithful for her remaining 81 years. June married Louis C. Jennerjahn on January 13, 1943 in Sundance, Wyoming. When Louis returned to the South Pacific Theatre during WW II, June became a pilot in the hope of making her contribution to the war effort. After the war ended and Louis returned safely, they began their family in Lead, South Dakota. She was also an accomplished artist and musician and taught piano in addition to school teaching. There was never any kind of animal, plant, child, teenager or elderly person that June did not take in and love, feed and help. June was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, in 1997, her brother, Forrest Allread of Seattle, Washington and her sister, Faith Wright of Wright, Wyoming. She is survived by her son, Judd Jennerjahn of Taos, New Mexico, daughter, Rita Jennerjahn of Taos, six grandchildren, Sarah Jennerjahn of New York City, New York, Judd Jennerjahn Jr. (Brianna) of Dallas, Texas, Jennifer Jennerjahn of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Joseph Jennerjahn of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Justin Jennerjahn of Los Angeles, California and Jiliana Jennerjahn of Barcelona Spain. She is also survived by her sister in-law, Doris Peterson of Washington State, nephew, Ken Allread (Janet) of Oregon, great nieces, Gwen Geis (Gerry) of Gillette, Wyoming, Nolene Wright of Wright, Wyoming and Mandy Carson of Wickenburg, Arizona, numerous great-nephews and nieces, great-great nephews and nieces and great-great-great nephews and nieces. Funeral Service was held on May 31, 2017 at Rivera Chapel in Taos, New Mexico, and was officiated by Loren Quick and Dan Wisecup. She is laid to rest beside her husband in Rose Hill Cemetery in Spearfish, South Dakota.
