Dolores (Tanuz) Sena, age 85, a lifelong resident of Pecos, passed away on June 20, 2024, with her family by her side. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was an amazing cook. The students at the Pecos Schools enjoyed her “home” cooked meals for more than 35 years. She also shared her home cooking with many other people when she catered special events, and her biscochitos were the best around! She loved her family, and if you sat to talk with her, you heard about how proud she was of every member of the family. Dolores enjoyed listening to the music of her boys, and encouraged them to keep on going with the band. She loved being a grandma, and made it a point to make each grandchild feel special. Her great big hugs and tight hand squeezes will always be remembered. Dolores was preceded in death by her parents, Tomas and Dolores Tanuz; siblings, Tony, Amada, Tom, and Manuel Tanuz, and Augustine Cruz; and nephew, Mark Tanuz. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Felix Sena; children, David (Cindy), Evelyn, and Joseph (Victoria); her four precious granddaughters, Stephanie Dyck (Buck), Miquela Garcia (Darryl), Jessica Sena, and Sabrina Sena; four great-grandchildren, Anthony, Dimitri, Syrena, and Reina; step-grandchildren, Timmy and Veronica Lerma; step-great-grandchildren; Tristyn and Santino Garcia; sister, Lucille Maestas; brothers, Billy (Tina), Jimmy (Bernice), and Steve (Jeanie); sister-in-law, Martha Tanuz; and many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. A rosary will be recited on Friday, June 28, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Pecos with the funeral mass following at 11:00 a.m. Interment and reception to follow. Serving as pallbearers will be nephews, Ruben, Billy Jr., Adam, Lawrence, Steven, Eric, and Matthew Tanuz. Honorary pallbearers will be her great-grandchildren.
