Dolores Tapia

Dolores Tapia, age 80 a previous resident of Hernandez, NM passed away in Santa Fe on Thursday, October 24, 2019. Dolores was born in Hernandez to Benita Archuleta on November 21, 1939. She lived at the Santa Fe Care Center for 34 years, where, she loved to watch the birds at the bird feeders directly outside her window. She was always up and active, very seldom would you find her in bed. At the Santa Fe Care Center, she enjoyed helping in the dining room, to pass out cloth napkins. Dolores certainly did not like to eat pureed food, she insisted on real food, especially beans. Finally, Dolores truly enjoyed her coloring books and Crayolas®, about once a year, staff would have to clear out the stacks of coloring books, so she could start a new collection.

Dolores is preceded in death by her mother, Benita Archuleta of Santa Fe, NM. She is survived by her sister, Gloria Smith of Albuquerque, NM. Dolores is also survived by her cousins Beva Portillo and Family of Albuquerque, NM and Lucia Salazar and Family of Hernandez, NM.

Serving the Tapia Family as pallbearers are Mike Martinez and Larry Martinez.

Services for Dolores will be held on Saturday November 2, 2019 at 10AM -11AM in the Rivera Family Funeral Home Chapel 305 Calle Salazar Espanola, NM. Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday November 2, 2019 at 12PM San Jose de Chama Catholic Church, Hernandez, NM. Interment to immediately follow at the San Jose Catholic Cemetery. The San Jose Cemetery is located behind the new San Jose de Chama Catholic Church on the west side of US 84.

The Tapia Family has entrusted the care of Dolores to the Rivera Family Funeral Home of Espanola, NM.
