R.I.P. Don Dugas:
Long-time local woodworker, raconteur and free-thinker Don Dugas, 67, moved on to new adventures elsewhere on January 2nd, 2014. Left with fond memories are his loving soulmate, Mari, and a core of devoted friends whose lives were enriched by having made the effort to see the well-meaning, caring soul behind Dons sometimes feisty demeanor.
Don read avidly, held strong, informed opinions and loved a good conversation that involved a spirited exchange of ideas. Don knew where he stood on matters and made sure you knew it, too. Don would provoke you and keep you on your toes and you would wind up a better person for his having forced you to question your beliefs.
Don was ever looking at the world in terms of how it could be made a better place. He strongly embraced the idea of small communities with heart and soul and loved animals for their purity of spirit. As such, in lieu of flowers it would have been his wish that you support Stray Hearts Animal Shelter (1200 St. Francis St. Taos, NM 87571 phone 575-758-2981
http://strayhearts.org/donate.php).
Don would also have challenged you live your life in such a way that Taos and its surrounding environs remain a place where those on a personal quest might throw down roots and say, This is a good place to call home.
Don, you will be always missed and never forgotten.
