Donald Leslie “Randy” Randolph passed away on April 8, 2022, four days shy of his 87th birthday. Randy passed away at home after a long and difficult battle with cancer.
Don was born on April 12, 1935 in Elkhart, Kansas. He was the fifth of six children born to William Haskell Randolph and Josephine Alberta Locke Randolph. Don served in the U.S. Navy, and after an honorable discharge married his great love, Georgia Rice, on May 28, 1960. Soon after the couple married they moved to Los Alamos, NM and welcomed their daughter (1961) and son (1962).
Don worked at Los Alamos National Laboratory in photography and quickly helped establish the micrographics department, where he worked until his retirement in 1990. His favorite things in life were family, fishing, and camping. He enjoyed yearly camping trips to Taylor Park, Colorado, where all the family members would meet to catch up on stories and the ever growing family, cook and eat, and of course- fish!
He is survived by Georgia, his wife of 61 years; daughter Leslie (Dale) Melton; son Blaine (Renee) Randolph; grandsons Tyler (Melissa) and Trae (Victoria) Randolph; granddaughter Kalen Melton, great- grandchildren Ava and Gauge Randolph, all from Los Alamos, NM. Also surviving Don is his sister Betty Bultman of Garden City, Kansas as well as many nieces and nephews Don was especially close to. He will be missed by many!
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Institute for Cancer Research.
A memorial service will take place in May, 2022 at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Date and time to be announced shortly. The family has chosen to make arrangements with Rivera Family Funeral Home of Los Alamos. Please leave condolences, stories and pictures for the family at www.riverafamilyfuneralhome.com
