Donald Vinzant, our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather has gone to sleep with Jesus Christ Our Lord. He left us on August 27, 2017 after a long illness. He was born on January 9, 1942 in Red Bluff, CA. He married his wife Betty of 56 years in 1961 in Albq, NM. He enlisted in the U.S.M.C. in 1967 and retired in 1985. He did one tour in Vietnam from Nov. 1967 to Dec. 1968. He received 2 purple hearts and numerous medals during his 18 ½ years. He brought Betty back home to Santa Fe in 1985. He worked for the County jail, State prison, and his last job of 10 years was at St. Vincent Hospital as a security guard. He loved working on cars as his hobby. He will always be loved and greatly missed by his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father Donald L. Vinzant and brother Timothy Vinzant.
He is survived by his wife Betty Vinzant, son Steven Vinzant (Stacey), mother Lois Vinzant, grandchildren Joshua Vinzant (Lorette) and Katherine Bullard (Joe), great grandchildren Mariah, Makynzie, Nicholas, Joshua, Mason and Maverick, and sisters Barbara Harmon (Earl), Kathy Lewis Edwards (Napoleon) and Linda Secrist (Gary).
Services will be September 7, 2017 at Seventh Day Adventist Church (130 Rabbit Road) at 1:00pm, with burial to follow at the National Cemetery at 3:00pm. With a reception back at the Church.
