Dorothy A. Gallegos

Dorothy Gallegos 82 from Ojo Sarco, NM passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 1, 2017. She is preceded in death by her parents Manuel and Martina Armijo, husband Flavio Gallegos, son Leonard Gallegos, grandson James Gallegos, sister Esther Martinez and partner Jose Gallegos. Dorothy is survived by her son Jerry Gallegos (Lorraine), daughters MaryAnne Guerrero (Ernest), Cecilia Gurule (Andres), Shirley Gallegos, her grandson Donald Gallegos (Patricia) whom she raised as her own, granddaughter Lori Jackson (Jay) who was like a daughter to her and great-grandson Donovan Gallegos whom she had a special bond with. Grandchildren Claudette (Eli), Derrick (Sheila), Tanya (Scott), Anthony (Bobbie), Eugena (Derek), Lorena (Ricky), Angelica (Kevin), Charlotte, Carmella, Leonard (Melissa), 26 great-grand children, 5 great-great-grandchildren, daughter in-law Edna Gallegos. Niece Carol Martinez and nephew Gabie Martinez, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and special friend and caregiver Dolores Sena. A Rosary will be recited on Monday, March 6, 2017 at 7:00pm at Rivera Family Funeral Home in Espanola,NM. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on March 7, 2017 at 10:00am at The Holy Family Church in Chimayo, NM. Interment will take place on Thursday March 9, 2017 at the Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, NM at 3:00 pm. Serving as Pallbearers are Donald Gallegos, Derrick Rodriguez, Anthony Gallegos, and Leonard Gallegos, Jr. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers are her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Dorothy was a weaver by trade, she started weaving at the age of 9 years old and continued the tradition until her passing. No matter what life threw her way she always managed to bounce back, she was caring, loving and made friends everywhere she went. She will be remembered for her unique personality, her kindness and the love she had for her family. On her spare time Dorothy enjoyed playing at her favorite casinos and spending time with her family.
