Dorothy (Dorotea Cecilia) Silva, 86, of El Prado passed away peacefully at home on April 30, 2010 surrounded by her loving family. Born February 4, 1924 in Cimarron, NM, to parents Josefa (Pita) and Juan Francisco Archuleta. Dorothy was the baby of thirteen children. She was the last to be born and the last to leave this life to join her parents, sisters and brothers and a granddaughter. Dorothy (beloved Mother) was spirited, loving and a beautiful woman. She loved life even in the most difficult times. Dorothy as a young girl loved to dance especially the jitterbug. Dorothy loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and was always there when her family needed her. (She had a great sense of humor--she was funny and her laughter was contagious). Dorothy was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. She was active the VFW, AARP and the Society of San Antonio of Arroyo Seco. (She was a homemaker when her children were young, later she worked in several establishments but may be best remembered when she worked at the Fiesta Bakery). We will forever miss our Mother but we will hold her dear in our hearts.
She is survived by her daughters, Agatha McCain (Steve) of Florida, Bernadette McConnell (Donald) of Hawaii, her sons, Joseph Silva (Anna) of Taos, and Danny Silva (Liz) of Taos, her grandchildren, Stephanie, Deborah, Jeffrey, Jon-Michael, Anna-Lisa, Nikki (Danique) and Brittanny, great grandchildren, Janai, DRavin, Grace Mae, Jared, Amira and Lilah Cate and numerous relatives and friends.
Rosary was recited on May 4, 2010. Funeral mass was celebrated on May 5, 2010. Both services were held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. Interment was held at the Dolores Cemetery.
