Dr. Oskar Moller of Taos passed away unexpectedly on April 29, 2012. He was the Director of Emergency Medicine at Holy Cross Hospital. He is preceded in death by his mother, Malfridur Oskarsdottir, and his father, Dr. Palmi Moller. He is survived by his wife, Susan, and son Palmi William; brother Palmi Moller and his wife Stephanie and their children Catherine Thorbjorg and Timothy Oskar. Also, sister in law Carolyn Jelnicky, her husband Frank, and their children Michael, Rachael and Stephanie, and many colleagues and friends. Oskar was born in Reykjavik, Iceland on May 11, 1950. His family moved from Iceland to Birmingham Alabama in 1958. His father was a highly honored professor and department chairman at the University of Alabama Dental School. During his grade school years, Oskar was known for his fierce honesty, determination, and support for the civil rights movement. He went on to receive his undergraduate degree from the University of New Hampshire and Medical degree from the University of Alabama. He performed his residency in Emergency medicine in Denver, Colorado. For 35 years, Oskar worked as an emergency physician in Pennsylvania, Jacksonville Florida, and Taos. Since 1995, Taos was where Oskar truly came into his own as a healer and was a well respected member of the community.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday May 30, at 5:30 PM, at the Sagebrush Conference Center.
