Edda Bon Allen
Edda Maria Valentina Bon Allen was born in Tricesimo, Italy on February 14, 1926, and passed away on December 18, 2020 in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Edda became a War Bride to Lloyd D. Allen on September 5, 1946. They traveled to America, first settling in Oakley, Kansas where Lloyd was from and then moving to Denver, Colorado. Edda devoted herself to raising five children and working her way up to the position of housekeeping supervisor at the Brown Palace and Cosmopolitan Hotels in Denver. After her children were grown and she was widowed, Edda became an artist in multiple media. Besides being a fabulous cook, she regularly walked five miles around Sloans Lake in Denver and rode many miles on her bicycle. She always had numerous projects going on around the house, but her pride and joy was her back yard. She so loved her flowers!
Edda was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd, her parents D’Angelo Bon and Ada Sbueltz, and her siblings Sergio, Ennio and Gianpaolo Bon, and Claudia Venier.
She is survived by her daughters Alida Hrivnak (David) and Marissa Earp (Danny), and her sons John Allen (Susan), Mark Allen (Nancy Morhlang) and Stevan Allen (Lyn). Additional survivors include her grandchildren Greg Hrivnak, Doreen Hrivnak, Angela Parish, Alissa Paul, Elanna Lozow, Ariella Yaschik, Andrea Anteau, Celina Rogers, Marcus Allen, Vanessa Rainwater and Deanna Allen, as well as 20 great-grandchildren and many nieces, great nieces and nephews. In Italy, Edda is also survived by her sister-in-law Gabriella Bon and brother-in-law Giancarlo Venier and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Edda cherished her Catholic faith. She loved that her birthday was on Valentine's Day. She loved Christmas, going to Midnight Mass and having hot cocoa and panetone afterwards. Her porch was lit with Christmas lights all year long. Buon Natale in Paradiso, Mamma!
We wish to express our heartfelt gratitude to all the wonderful, caring staff at Vista Hermosa Assisted Living who took such good care of Edda in her final months.
Funeral services will be held in her native Italy when circumstances permit.
