Edgar Dale Mitchell "Edd", died November 5, 2007. He was born on August 2, 1926 in Roy, New Mexico.
Edd was a life-long resident of New Mexico and lived in Taos since 1960. He was born into a ranching family and was involved with farming and ranching his whole life. He served in the Navy during World War II. Edd was recognized both professionally and for his service to the community with many awards. He was an early member of the Taos Winter Sports Club. As a long-time member of the Lions Club he proudly cared for the historic Tio Vivo carousel. Edd was a member of St. James Episcopal Church and was actively involved with their work in the community.
Edd was preceded in death by his wife, Shelley Harper Mitchell and son, Harper Mitchell. He is survived by his three children, Mary Elizabeth (Randy) Hughes of Austin, TX, Mimi Charles (Bill Mitchell) of Maui, HI, Matt (Esther) Mitchell and daughters, Courtney, Heather and Tori of Roy, NM, and Harper's daughter, Tera Mitchell of Maui, HI. He is also survived by his three siblings, Sovola Slade and Elaine Olson of Santa Fe, and Chet Mitchell of Taos; many nieces and nephews; and long-time companion Kathleen Sheridan-Cooper of Taos.
Service was held on Friday, November 16, 2007 at St. James Episcopal Church.
