Edith Hill

Edith Jenkins Hill—April 30, 1922- November 21, 2018 Edith Jenkins Hill (96) passed away November 21st, the day before Thanksgiving. She was a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and the center of the Hill Family. She was born in Rosario de Santa Fe, Argentina to George Jenkins and Carolyne Moroz Jenkins. Her father was British and built a thriving tea business in Argentina. Her mother was a loving caregiver to Edith and her three siblings. Edith met her husband, Andrew, while he was serving in the U.S. Merchant Marines in Argentina. After dating just a few times, he sent her an engagement ring in the mail and she left Argentina to live in the United States. They settled in Erie Pennsylvania and later made their way to Santa Fe, NM. After their marriage ended, Edith raised their six kids on her own. She also loved and cared for many other children. She was a Spanish teacher at the Santa Fe Community School. Years later, she ran a day care while living in the old stone house across from Wood Gormley Elementary. Edith touched and connected many lives. Everyone loved “Grandma Edith.” She was an elegant, funny and amazingly kind woman of great faith. Her stature and grace were matched only by her mischievous wit. She is preceded in death by her son, Andrew Patrick Hill and her grandsons Cody Mohr, Ian Rascon and her son-in-law Bryan Varela. She is survived and celebrated by: Five daughters: Karolyn Selleck, Kathleen Cass (Lee), Karen Copeland (Bob), Kimberly Hill Vose (John), Gretchen Hill Varela (John Scharn). Eight grandchildren: Jennifer Mohr, Mikala McGee (Jeff), Amy Martinez (Aaron), Robert Martinez, Victoria Cass (Justin), John Cory Vose and Cooper Vose, Bryan Kyle Varela. Four Great grandchildren: Frankie Mohr (Marissa), Jonathan Chavez, Reece Angel and Alycya Chavez (Mario). Two Great, great grandchildren: Jace and Aubrie Mohr.
