Edmund O. Alarid, 84, beloved friend, father and grandfather, succumbed to esophageal cancer on December 8, 2016. Edmund was born in 1932 in Santa Fe and remained a lifelong resident. He is descended from the families of the original Onate expedition settlers. He was known for his friendliness, his love of his grandchildren, and his ability to make the best red chile around (learned from his grandmother). Edmund proudly served in the Navy in the Korean War and retired from the Highway Department. He played golf and cards at the Country Club with his many friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter Charlotte and special uncle Sam Alarid. He leaves behind a loving family: wife Lenore, son Philip and wife Kristie, daughter Tina and husband Pete White, daughter Cathryn and husband Marc Bertram and grandchildren, Alicia, Julia, and Amalia Bertram, Marco and Eric White and beloved dog Coco.
