Edward Otto Martin

November 5, 1942 — January 10, 2017

Edward Otto Martin, Age 74 Ed went to meet his Lord on January 10, 2017, while in his home in Springer, with is wife of 35 years at his side. Ed was born on November 5, 1942, in Millersburg, Ohio, to Ruth Lillian Spahr Martin and Glenn William Martin. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Thrasher and husband Richard, father, Glenn Martin, sons Vint Martin and Stephen Sandlin. He is survived by his wife, Eileen, son, Chris Sandlin and wife Janette, granddaughters Chloe and Emma of Springer; daughter, Melissa Chavez and husband Joe Ray, granddaughters, Jenna Rae Johnson and husband Joseph, and Makenna Chavez of Las Cruces; and grandson, Robbie Sandlin and wife Jillian of Denver. Everyone who knew Ed will agree that he was special and one of a kind. His quick wit, stories and sense of humor were so captivating. He had an honest respect for almost everyone he knew. He was so talented and excelled in everything he did. He lived a very full and colorful life. So much more can be said of Ed, but he wouldn’t want it. He asked only that he be remembered in the hearts and minds of the people he loved and the many lives he touched. His first love was being a cowboy, riding a good horse and catching wild cattle. He was one of the best. He once said, “I regret many of the stupid things I did in my life, but when I came to the Lord, all was forgiven and I am a new man.” He loved Eileen, his family and his brothers and sisters in Christ. He will be forever remembered and missed by all who knew and loved him. At his request, there will be no service. His remains will be scattered over the country he called his “happy home”.
