Life is very difficult at times. In essence, some may ask "what is our purpose?" Well, I truly feel that when I think of Grandma and all she represents to all who knew her, her purpose then shines bright and clear,
"Purpose....is to Love"
TRULY Love in the most purest form.
I can confidently say that we ALL felt that grand pure love from our Grandma Bustamante. I am so thankful she was ours to teach us to love one another in that way! - Granddaughter Danelle Lucero
Eleanor Maria Bustamante was born April 9, 1934, to Juanita Dominguez and Bernardo Trujillo in Mora, New Mexico. She was born second of six children. She passed away peacefully at home with her daughter Sylvia and Granddaughter Sarah by her side on January 17, 2022. She lived a quite fulfilling 87 years. You would never have guessed she only went to school until the 3rd grade, she was one smart cookie.
At 18 she met and married the first love of her life Ben Muniz. Together they would raise their 4 children Lorraine, Sylvia, Manuel, and Benjamin. They also helped raise Eleanor's baby sister Leora. They did not have much financially but they sure made up for it with love and passion. Sadly, Ben passed away at the young age of 47 on January 31, 1978.
Eleanor was a hard-working woman. She worked as a waitress for many years and later in life she worked as a home healthcare worker. She loved people and it showed. Eleanor had many friends whom she loved dearly. Their love has poured in reminding us of her loving smile and caring way!
While studying with Jehovah’s Witnesses she met the second love of her life Juan “Johnny” Bustamante. They married December 13, 1980. She hungered for the truth and was deeply satisfied with what she learned. In 1986 Eleanor went to Pioneer School. Devoting many hours to preaching to people and teaching them about the God she loved Jehovah. They lived a happy life together until January 11, 2002, when Juan suddenly passed away. Widowed again Eleanor devoted her life to her family and her God.
Eleanor absolutely loved her visits from family and friends, she was so happy to receive a baked good, some candy or flowers and her family tried to do this often. On the occasions that her daughter Sylvia would come care for her mom, we heard many funny stories of how she still treated her like a teenager, telling her to “put on a jacket” or “stop drinking so much diet coke” which we all can relate to. While we all thought this was quite the funny story, it also showed Eleanor’s continuous motherly role within her family. She absolutely loved her visits from son Manuel (Liz) and Eleanor’s youngest son Benjamin, she enjoyed watching Westerns with Sonny while holding “Little One”, she always loved little dogs.
Eleanor was blessed to have her daughter Lorraine live and care for her the last several years of her life. Lorraine was her constant, taking care of all her needs. They were extremely close, living together and serving Jehovah together. It was a very rare occurrence to see one without the other. We are so thankful Eleanor was able to remain living happy at home!
Eleanor is preceded in death by her parents Juanita and Bernardo, her siblings Lydia, Isidro, Loyola and Cippy, and her great grandson Donovan.
Eleanor left quite the legacy behind! She is survived by her baby sister Leora Encinias, her four children Lorraine Anaya (Sonny), Sylvia Jacquez (Juan), Manuel Muniz (Liz), and Benjamin Muniz. 11 grandchildren, Sonya (Laurie), Leandro, Manuel, Sarah (Dennis), Richard, Danelle (Phil), Benjamin, Antonio (Jessica), Monica (Jeremy), Mario and Troy. She was so excited every time a new baby was on the way! She loved babies! There are 18 great grandchildren, Shaya, Joaquin, Jonah, Destiny, Leandro, Teynan, Nevaeh, Michael, Amber, Daniel, Samuel, Carlos, Brittany, Amaris, Kaiya, Isaiah, Lilah, and Avala. 9.5 great, great grandchildren, Jacob, Vincent, Anastasia, Linayah, Alayah, Amarah, Logan, Kaleah, Zaylynn and 1 baby girl on the way. She is also survived by many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
Eleanor will be buried at a later date. She believed that her death would just be a time of sleeping and one day soon Jehovah would wake her up in a perfect paradise. We long for that day to come.
